The Roman Commander in Jerusalem: Justice in Confusion

A devotional reflection on the commander who rescued Paul.

Romans in the New Testament

God uses unexpected people to protect His servants. This Roman commander acted decisively to save Paul from mob violence. Though not a believer, he upheld justice and prevented chaos. God used him as an instrument of protection.

He commanded him to be bound. (Acts 21:33)

Take him by force from among them. (Acts 23:10)

Judge righteous judgment. (John 7:24)

Christian Application

This devotional encourages believers that God can work through anyone to accomplish His purposes. Trust God’s sovereignty today, even through unlikely people.

Sample Prayer

Lord, help me see Your hand in unexpected places. Strengthen my trust in Your providence. Amen.

Hymns for Romans in the New Testament

This devotional pairs well with the hymns A Mighty Fortress Is Our God by Martin Luther, Be Still My Soul by Katharina von Schlegel, and Amazing Grace by John Newton.
