A devotional reflection on life’s brevity, vanity, and the fear of the Lord as true wisdom.
Ecclesiastes
Ecclesiastes reveals the emptiness of life apart from God. Ecclesiastes teaches that earthly pursuits cannot satisfy the soul. Wisdom, pleasure, labor, and wealth all fail to give lasting meaning when disconnected from the fear of the Lord. True purpose is found only in living for God and recognizing His sovereign ordering of every season.
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher. (Ecclesiastes 1:2)
To every thing there is a season. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Fear God, and keep his commandments. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
Christian Application
Ecclesiastes encourages believers that God brings meaning, stability, and joy even in uncertain times. When life feels repetitive or confusing, His presence anchors the heart. Pursue God above all else, hold earthly things loosely, and walk in reverent obedience.
Sample Prayer
Lord, teach me to number my days and to find my purpose in You alone. Amen.
