Adam: The First Call to Responsibility

A devotional reflection on Adam’s calling to steward creation and obey God’s command.

Bible Characters

God calls His people to responsibility and obedience. Adam was placed in Eden with purpose: to work, to guard, and to obey. His story reminds us that responsibility is part of God’s design for humanity. Though Adam failed, his calling reveals God’s intention for us to live faithfully under His authority. Even in failure, God pursued Adam, showing mercy and promising redemption.

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. (Genesis 2:15)

And the LORD God commanded the man. (Genesis 2:16)

So God created man in his own image. (Genesis 1:27)
