A devotional reflection on God’s creative power, human dignity, and the beginnings of His redemptive plan.
Genesis
Genesis reveals God as Creator, Judge, and Covenant Keeper. Genesis teaches that God orders creation with wisdom and governs history with purpose. His covenant with Abraham shows that redemption begins with God’s initiative, not human merit. The book establishes the foundation for understanding sin, promise, and salvation.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
So God created man in his own image. (Genesis 1:27)
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. (Genesis 15:6)
Christian Application
Genesis encourages believers that the God who shaped the universe also shapes their lives. Even when circumstances seem chaotic, His purposes remain steady and His promises sure. Honor God as Creator, resist sin’s pull, and walk in faith as the patriarchs did. Trust God’s promises even when the path is unclear.
Sample Prayer
Lord, help me trust You as the God who began all things and who guides all things. Strengthen my faith and obedience. Amen.
Hymns for Genesis
