Lamentations: The God Who Is Faithful In Grief

A devotional reflection on sorrow, judgment, and God’s steadfast mercy.

Lamentations

Lamentations reveals God’s compassion even in deep sorrow. This book teaches that grief can be brought honestly before God. Even in judgment, His mercy remains, and His compassion does not fail. Suffering does not silence His faithfulness.

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed. (Lamentations 3:22)

Great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:23)

The LORD is good unto them that wait for him. (Lamentations 3:25)

Christian Application

Lamentations encourages believers that God’s mercies are new every morning. He meets the brokenhearted with comfort and hope. Bring your sorrow to God, trust His compassion, and wait on His restoring grace.

Sample Prayer

Lord, comfort my heart in grief and remind me of Your unfailing mercy. Amen.

Hymns for Lamentations

This devotional pairs well with the hymns It Is Well with My Soul by Horatio Spafford, Be Still My Soul by Katharina von Schlegel, and Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Thomas Chisholm.
