The Man With the Withered Hand: Restored in the Midst of Opposition

A devotional reflection on the man healed in the synagogue despite Pharisaic resistance.

Miracles of Restoration

Jesus restores even when others resist His work. The Pharisees watched Jesus closely, hoping to accuse Him. Yet Jesus called the man forward and healed him publicly, demonstrating that compassion outweighs legalism. The man’s simple obedience — stretching out what was broken — became the moment of his restoration.

Stretch forth thine hand. (Matthew 12:13)

And it was restored whole. (Matthew 12:13)

They watched him. (Mark 3:2)

Christian Application

This devotional encourages believers that Jesus restores what we are willing to bring into the light. Even when others judge or misunderstand, His compassion remains steady. Offer your brokenness to Jesus today. Stretch it toward Him in faith.

Sample Prayer

Lord, I bring my weakness to You. Restore what is withered in my life. Amen.

Hymns for Miracles of Restoration

This devotional pairs well with the hymns Just As I Am by Charlotte Elliott, He Leadeth Me by Joseph Gilmore, and Be Thou My Vision by Dallan Forgaill.
