The Roman Centurion of Great Faith: Belief Beyond Israel

A devotional reflection on the centurion whose faith amazed Jesus.

Romans in the New Testament

Faith recognizes true authority. This Roman centurion understood authority better than anyone around him. He believed Jesus could heal with a word, and Jesus marveled at his faith. A Gentile soldier displayed what many in Israel missed: trust in Christ’s divine authority.

I am not worthy. (Matthew 8:8)

I have not found so great faith. (Matthew 8:10)

Speak the word only. (Matthew 8:8)

Christian Application

This devotional encourages believers to trust Jesus’ word even when they cannot see the outcome. Take Jesus at His word today. Trust His authority over every need.

Sample Prayer

Lord, strengthen my faith to trust Your word fully. Amen.

Hymns for Romans in the New Testament

This devotional pairs well with the hymns Trust and Obey by John Sammis, How Firm a Foundation by John Rippon, and Amazing Grace by John Newton.
