A Synagogue From Jesus’ Era

Discovered in 2009, the Magdala synagogue is one of the few first?century synagogues excavated in Galilee. Its stone benches, frescoes, and mosaic floors reflect a wealthy Jewish community. The Magdala Stone, carved with menorah imagery, is one of the earliest depictions of the Jerusalem Temple.
